Healthdirect After-Hours GP Telehealth Service
From 31 July, Tasmania will be included in the Healthdirect free after-hours GP telehealth service. This service allows Tasmanians to call 1800 022 222 at any time for advice from a registered nurse. If a GP consultation is recommended during the after-hours period, callers may be offered a free telephone or video consultation with a GP.
Ensuring continuity of care is a high priority. For patients accessing the Healthdirect after-hours GP telehealth service, an event summary will be uploaded to My Health Record. (where the patient has a My Health Record, and consent has been provided).
Palliative Care Support Transition
The after-hours palliative care nurse triage service currently provided by GP Assist will transition to the Tasmanian Department of Health’s Care@home program.
From 6pm on 31 July, Specialist Palliative Care Service patients, their families, carers, and health professionals can access after-hours support by calling 1800 973 363 and selecting Option 3.
This change ensures uninterrupted access to free, high-quality palliative care support.
